Championship Chess of Richmond believes...

Chess is a learning tool for the development of the mind that just happens to be a fun game. Join us for a week of learning about this facinating game of strategy. The Championship Chess instructors will use a curriculum developed by Coach Steve Schneider. The workbook format is supported by video coaching and chess logic puzzles to promote strong cognitive skills. Classes will include instruction, guided play and tournaments with incentives including prizes that make learning fun.

Who Can Play? For beginners: the step-by-step approach, starts with the Pawn. Players learn how to play and win pre-chess games with this basic chess piece. The next step is to learn about the Knight and how it interacts with the Pawn. Then, in turn, each piece is developed.
For intermediate and advanced players: Championship Chess works to improve chess skills through introduction and practice of chess openings, middle game tactics and endgame knowledge to be able to close out the game. It is our goal to prepare those interested in scholastic tournaments to be ready for competition.
